Treating High Conflict Couples:

Building Greater Emotional Intimacy Using Attachment Theory

Presented by: Nabil Hanna, Psy.D., MFT

Most criticism, blaming and emotionally loaded demands in distressed couple relationships are attempts to deal with and resolve attachment hurts and fears. Learn what you can do to help high conflict couples identify what they want from each other and remove the obstacles that get in the way of becoming emotionally close.  Find out what you can do to help the couples you work with to understand their attachment behavior and how it, and their attachment injuries, connects to their attachment needs in high conflict situations. Better understand each couple’s attachment behavior and how it is connected to their attachment needs, vulnerabilities, and injuries.  Find out what you can do to resolve attachment injuries and highly conflicted interpersonal dynamics such as anger, criticism, and defensiveness.

Nabil Hanna, Psy.D., MFT is in private practice
in Beverly Hills.  An adjunct professor at Pepperdine and Antioch Universities graduate program for more than 8 years, he teaches 7 different courses between the two with a special focus on Couples Counseling. Dr. Hanna also provides supervision for interns and consultation for licensed psychotherapists.
