Music Therapy 101
Facilitated by Rose Fienman
The presentation is designed to provide the participants with an introducti
on to m
usic therapy.
Topics will include the definition and
scope of music
therapy, an overview of common populations seen in music therapy, and a brief review of the literature. By educating other professionals
about music therapy, music therapists hope to d
ispel some of the myths and misconceptions about the field, as well as inform others about a potential complementary service that could enhance client well-being.
This is an experiential workshop
in which you will learn about the wide variety of music therapy experiences. Music therapy is best understood through active engagement. Because MFT’s work with many different age groups, we will recreate music experiences commonly used with children, adults, and older adults. Our clients don’t have to have a musical background in order to benefit from music therapy, and the same is true for this workshop.
Rose Fienman
has been a board-certified music
therapist (MT-BC) since 2010. Her diverse clinical experience includes both individual and group work, and she has a passion for serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Currently, she works at the Music Therapy Wellness Clinic at CSUN. She is also pursuing a Master of Social Work at USC.
