Self, Body & Boundaries

Marjorie Rand, Ph.D

2 CEUs

Somatic psychotherapy in conjunction with advances in neurobiology, represents a paradigm shift in the field of clinical practice. It places a focus on accessing and activating the nervous system’s self-healing properties; and works as a catalyst for releasing blockages associated to trauma states and other common clinical concerns.

Self, Body & Boundaries

Marjorie Rand, Ph.D

In somatic psychotherapy, energetic boundaries define the Self. They provide for containment, expansion, presence, differentiation, centering and grounding.

While most talk therapists under- stand boundaries as being verbal and behavioral, not many explore the spatial, energetic and diagnostic aspects of boundaries.

Participants will:
  • Learn how to use body awareness to set appropriate boundaries
  • Understand how to use boundary exercises diagnostically
  • Be able to implement experiential boundary work with clients immediately.

Marjorie Rand, Ph.D. is a pioneer in somatic psychotherapy and founding member of USABP. She combines somatic psychotherapy, yoga therapy, mindfulness meditation and breathing in her work with individuals, couples and families. She is the author of four books, many published articles, and has trained therapists all over the world. She has been in private practice in Manhattan Beach and Brentwood for 36 years.
