Meiram Bendat, JD, MFT
Meiram Bendat, JD, MFT
, is a Los
Angeles-based
psychotherapist, attorney, ethics consultant, and founder of Psych-Appeal, a mental health insurance advocacy service. He maintains a psychoanalytic private practice and provides clinical and ethics consultations to mental health professionals and organizations. His areas of expertise include patient advocacy, insurance appeals, privacy, professional boundaries, emerging technologies, and risk-management. He maintains clinical faculty appointments at Antioch University and the New Center for Psychoanalysis, where he is also Chair of Ethics.
Meiram has broad experience with inpatient, residential, and outpatient mental health care and has served as a consultant to Pacific Clinics, Bridges to Recovery, Vista Del Mar, Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, the Wright Institute Los Angeles, and the LA Gay & Lesbian Center. He is a member of the CA-AAMFT Insurance Advocacy Taskforce, the American Psychoanalytic Association’s Committee on Government Relations & Insurance, and has presented at numerous conferences on patient advocacy, access to mental health care, and mental health parity.
