Legal and Ethical Issues in the Practice of Supervision

Presented by
Curt Widhalm, LMFT

Course Description:
Supervisors must navigate being in a mentoring relationship, teaching clinical skills, regulatory laws and, often times, employment laws and relationships. This workshop covers the regulations for new and existing supervisors. If you are considering becoming a supervisor or just interested in learning the legal and ethical requirement that supervisors need to navigate, this workshop will address your questions and concerns.

Learning Objectives: Participants will

  1. Identify the three best practice guidelines for initiating a supervisory relationship.
  2. Identify the five steps of Ethical Decision Making in a supervisory relationship.
  3. Critique four components of a supervisory informed consent document.
  4. Interpret four ethical principles for supervisory relationships.
