To Refer Or Not To Refer: Creative Approaches To Utilizing A Medication Consultation

Richard S. Sinacola, PhD

This lecture will explore the ethical, psychological, philosophical, and physiological reasons for considering a referral for medication evaluation. Dr. Sinacola will shed light on the goal of any medication review: To employ established biological assessment techniques, and discover novel approaches for assisting the client in making an important treatment decision.

The objectives of this presentation are to understand the need to think more “biologically” with respect to client behavior, articulate the pros and cons of medication consultation for mental illness, and broaden your knowledge and appreciation of the pharmacologic treatment of various treatment situations.
