Shelby Stone is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #112223), practicing in Santa Monica. She received her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California and is trained in EMDR Therapy. Shelby has a passion for helping individuals grow through awareness and connection. She strives to meet clients where they are, while helping them use their personal resources to cope, connect, and handle arising issues. From her clinical work, Shelby has seen the impact of the therapeutic relationship in breaking down walls, promoting growth, and creating a safe environment for her clients. Shelby finds that her authentic curiosity and calm, non-judgmental attitude engenders the trust and openness necessary to help clients maximize and utilize strengths while reducing psychological stress.
Shelby has provided individual, parenting, family, and group psychotherapy services to dual diagnosis, substance abuse, formerly incarcerated, homeless, and child/adolescent populations. She has worked in school-based counseling services with students dealing with issues ranging from ADHD and anxiety to trauma and suicidality.
Using a strengths-based approach, Shelby maintains a genuine dedication to supporting progress through warmth and understanding. She is eager to help clients with a variety of issues and feels passionate about addressing family dynamics, enhancing relationship functioning, and nurturing self-esteem and identity development.
She also holds a BA in Psychology from Pepperdine University with Summa Cum Laude honors, is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and is in the board the Los Angeles Chapter of CAMFT.
