Description
Dr. Darcy Lubbers has 30 years’ experience as a marriage and family therapist, clinical art therapist, and somatic psychotherapist. Her background includes training in art therapy, focusing-oriented therapy, somatic experiencing, clinical hypnosis, guided imagery, equine therapy, structural bodywork, yoga, meditation and mindfulness, and Ayurvedic medicine.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Lubbers has an extensive background in teaching and student training, including post-graduate art therapy and MFT internships offered through her private practice in Santa Monica.
Her background also includes implementing a complementary therapies’ program for B’Sherit Integrative Oncology Services, and consulting for a number of residential treatment centers, hospitals and outpatient centers. She currently provides art therapy, somatic therapy and family therapy services for PCH Treatment Center in Los Angeles (Mar Vista).
Dr. Lubbers attended Brown University in Rhode Island for her undergraduate studies, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, for her masters’ studies, and Santa Barbara Graduate Institute and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology ( Los Angeles) for her doctoral studies.
Publishing credits include: Adult art psychotherapy: Issues and applications, and articles in the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance magazine (DBSA).
