Description
I am a licensed Psychotherapist in Private Practice in West Los Angeles. Before becoming a therapist. I worked more than 20 years as a Research Scientist/Neurobiologist and Professor teaching graduate and medical students at UCLA and other institutions outside of California. In addition to counseling people, I am also a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Pepperdine University where I teach Graduate Psychology courses.
I enjoy working with individuals, helping with transitions during life changes associated with school, marriage, child-rearing, family conflict, career, death, break-ups, divorce, depression, panic and many other factors that may come up. I have worked in community mental health settings with socioeconomically and ethnically diverse populations from varied locales around Los Angeles, including adolescent students (age 11-19) and their families at Culver City middle and high schools.
The multifaceted psychology “tool box” of theoretical perspectives and therapeutic interventions I might use with a client is matched and adjusted as necessary to resonate with his/her/their unique, culturally diverse mental health issues and needs during the course of the therapeutic relationship. Therapeutic perspectives and interventions used in my practice are based upon evidence-based psychological constructs and the underlying biological processes that impact personality development, emotional and behavioral responses to distress and other factors that can affect feelings of well-being and satisfaction with one’s life and relationships with others.
In addition to LA-CAMFT and CAMFT, I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Society for Neuroscience (SFN). These academic and professional relationships enhance my ability to continually remain informed of evolving scientific/psychological perspectives and identify the most effective, evidence-based interventions to address the problems and issues my clients bring to their therapy sessions.
I currently offer tele therapy only.
