November SIG Update: Constructive Uncoupling Special Interest Group

We are so excited and proud to share with the LA-CAMFT community our new special interest group (SIG), Constructive Uncoupling: Therapy, Mediation and law for Divorcing or Separating Couples. This SIG has been formed to provide learning and networking opportunities to those in our community who work with clients who are facing the prospect of divorce or separation, and to be a clearing house of resources and information for therapists to be able to provide the best service for clients in the process of uncoupling, either prior to divorce or during divorce.

Our vision for this SIG is to provide MFTs with a forum in which to obtain and share information regarding the legal, financial, and clinical issues related to the dissolution of marriages, and the separation of partners with children.

After three planning meetings between therapists, mediators, and lawyers, and co-chaired by Judith M. Weigle, Mediator, Paralegal/LDA, and Victoria Goldfarb, J.D., LMFT, this leadership committee brainstormed and selected the monthly topics and direction for our mission of learning and growing as a therapist community in supporting uncoupling in a constructive way.
