FAQ
Who can become a member of LA-CAMFT?
Membership in LA-CAMFT is open to all licensed and pre-licensed MFTs in Los Angeles, provided they are members of the state organization as well. Associate membership is also open to all individuals who have joined the state organization and are practitioners in a related field.
How do I become a member of LA-CAMFT?
Members must first join the state organization by clicking here.
Once you are a member of CAMFT, you can join our local chapter by using our online membership application. Click here and start the process today!
What is the difference between CAMFT and LA-CAMFT?
CAMFT is the state organization representing Marriage and Family Therapists. LA-CAMFT is the Los Angeles (local) chapter of CAMFT and is a separate organization which offers continuing education, networking opportunities and more personal contact with colleagues in your geographic area.
Operating funds for the two organizations are entirely separate. You can participate in many of our activities and workshops without being a member of LA-CAMFT, but to receive all the benefits of membership you will need to join LA-CAMFT.
How can LA-CAMFT benefit me?
LA-CAMFT offers opportunities to develop personal and professional relationships with other clinicians, to participate in peer supervision groups, to serve on any of our varied committees, and to learn important strategies for growing your practice. Our regular chapter meetings provide opportunities for CEUs through exciting presentations designed to meet the needs of the Angelino MFT.

How long does membership last?
Membership runs on a calendar year, beginning in January and ending December 31st. There is a two-month grace period, so members joining after November 1st will not need to renew their membership the following January.
Can I join the chapter mid-year?
Yes! Your membership will be up for renewal on January 1st unless you join after November 1st, in which case your membership dues are considered paid until January one year hence.
Can I attend a chapter meeting without being a member?
Yes! Guests are always welcome, although we do hope you consider membership. There is so much to gain! Reservations must be placed in advance. You can visit our Events page to learn about our upcoming programs.
I am a former member whose membership has lapsed. How do I rejoin?
You are welcome to rejoin at any time. It’s easy. Simply click here to access our online membership application.
If I am unable to attend LA-CAMFT chapter meetings, will LA-CAMFT still benefit me?
Yes, you will still enjoy all the other benefits of membership, including a listing on our online therapist directory, opportunities to participate in peer supervision groups, and invitations to attend all of our other programs throughout the year.
Does LA-CAMFT offer CEUs?
Yes we do! Each of our chapter meetings provides you with the opportunity to gain 2 CEUs by attending important presentations related to practicing marriage and family therapy in Los Angeles.
When and where are the chapter meetings held?
Each month our members meet at the Beverly Hills Country Club, located at:
3084 Motor Avenue (Los Angeles, CA 90064)
Valet parking is available at the front door, or you can park in the lot behind the main building. Events are held on alternating Friday and Saturday mornings, between 8:45 and 11:30. Click here to learn more about our next program. These events tend to sell out, so register early!
I would like to get more involved in the chapter. Who should I contact?
We are happy to have your enthusiasm! There are countless ways to become more involved, no matter what kind of time and energy you have to donate. Take a moment to visit our Committees page and learn about the different opportunities for committee participation. There will be a contact person listed for each committee. If you can’t seem to find your perfect fit, email our Volunteer Committee and ask for some more help. lacamftvolunteer@lacamft.org
I’m a prelicensed MFT. What does membership in LA-CAMFT do for me?
We’ve carefully designed our chapter to cater particularly to the prelicensed MFT through our 3000 Club. This group of dedicated professionals answers the needs of the prelicensed MFT by hosting informational panels about preparing for the licensing exam, navigating the Department of Mental Health, and working professionally in Los Angeles. Opportunities for mentoring relationships are also a benefit provided by the 3000 Club. This group meets monthly to offer education and support to the up-and-coming therapists of LA-CAMFT.
